The Audition Process
Sign up for a time on the Sign Up Genius found on Facebook or SBCT.biz. You will also be able to access a Google folder with all of the information in it.
Do your research! In our audition folder, there is a copy of the script, along with a breakdown of all the characters and what their role is.
For our initial audition, you will be asked to prepare BEFOREHAND to sing a specific song and perform a short monologue.
Song: If you want to try out for Mary Poppins, you will sing the first part of Practically Perfect. If you want to audition for any other singing part, you will sing the first chorus of “Let’s Go Fly A Kite. You will be asked to sing it by yourself, but if you are completely uncomfortable with this, you may sing it as part of a group. Girls: Try to sing in your upper registry, only go down if you absolutely need to.
Acting: If you want to try out for a singing or non-singing role, in the audition folder, there is a CHARACTER MONOLOGUE document. Be prepared to read any of these paragraphs! You DO NOT have to memorize these lines, but be ready to show us your best characters!
Once we have the initial auditions, we will post a call-back list. Call-backs are a follow up audition where we may ask you to sing a different song to see if you may fit a certain part. If you are not on the call-back list, this does NOT mean you didn’t make the show! This is just a chance for us to see a few things we weren’t able to see in the initial auditions.
